Artifacts of a Fire,’ the remnants of burnt tree trunks sourced following the 2019 Idyllwild fires in California are raised again, mounted on concrete and layered in select sections with shaped steel, a figurative armor. Subtly transformed but retaining their sense of belonging to the landscape, these beautiful pieces of charred wood stand as majestic guardians and emblems of the strength of nature but also the potential for collective resilience and the courage to persist through adversity.

In this series, I aim to capture the inherent beauty of these natural artifacts while also highlighting the resilience of nature and the human spirit. By giving new life to something that was destroyed, I hope to inspire others to see the potential for growth and renewal even in the face of destruction.
